Maybe someday I'll get around to it; but I'm busy mainly working on some robotics projects right now. What I'm reading right now is Trump's book - "The Art Of The Deal".

    OK....that's an acceptable excuse...I suppose?

But I think you'd enjoy it, not the first time I've tried to pass it on to you, and I still remain confidant that you'd learn some things not currently understood, maybe even turn you into a Georgist ...if you were able to find the time......to expand the mind.....jus saying.....

Its too bad really....I've started several threads, made numerous posts about an LVT, Henry George...etc...along with the TRUTH about LAND.......the ROOT of our most pressing issues.......and most of it just sits there due to a lack of understanding....or attention, or motivation...or FEAR of the unknown...perhaps?

    ************************************

Trumps Book! Yeah, I got a copy....an old one though....from 'before' he decided to pursue and take the Throne .

I'm sure that You already know....He didn't actually write it....and I'm not sure of his contributions.....to it?

However, Its clearly a capitalist blueprint ....albeit an interesting picture of a die hard (take no prisoners) LAND speculator...RE Tycoon...for those interested in such things...

Why are plans meaningless? Because the transition is organic, it's collective, people make it, all of us. It unfolds in complex ways, in unpredictable ways. A plan is made by someone or by a group of people, who then hopes it will be followed by the rest. However you cannot enforce it on people, and things never go according to plan. Besides, what happens is that other groups of people have other plans (even if so slightly different) and the planners end up fighting about what's the best plan and not even starting to put the plan into action, and not achieving anything real.

Let's not be a planner. Let's be a doer. Let's materialise the transition in small steps, in small achievements. Let's not talk about how to get to an imaginary "RBE" world, but focus on what we are now doing to improve the world. Let's start sharing! If we initiate ways of being/doing which are successful and make us happy, they will spread like wildfire.
Maybe plans are meaningless, but maybe the planning process is meaningful.
Do you think your experiences while developing your plan have helped you to realize that what matters is to BE the transition?

Does anyone know how much a website like this would cost to get started and operate?

TBH; I have no clue. But there was a post from Neil recently talking about it and I want to say he said someone could set one up for as little as $200.00 (minus the time spent setting it all up). I remember he also said it could be done even cheaper, I think.

You may want to give him a shout out for more details.....but it wasn't that long ago (last week maybe) so between us we could look at his recent posts, heh?

....or he'll see this and respond....

If anyone here is interested in building the contest website I will pay to get it started and donate $1000 to the prize pot. It's hard to say how it would play out, all we can do is try.

One way is to set up a free forum where people can submit their ideas. Forums should have some way for members to rate posts. You could set up the forum at your own domain name, which would cost below $20, or even much less. But you'd need hosting as well. Each thread could be a particular member's idea and other people could rate it.

Or you could just use the free hosting provided by the forum providers and just use their subdomain url.

If you start investigating free templates I am sure you'll encounter free website templates, whether through webs.com or Wordpress or some other source with some kind of a public rating system built in to the template.

If you don't know how to set up any of that, once you find a template, I can help you set it all up for free.

But, depending on the functionality you require, I don't trust myself to build a rating website from scratch.

Another way is to start a sub Reddit for the contest. Sub reddits have a way for people to rate threads, I think.

I recently bought hosting and domain name for terre-une.com and I will be happy to have it at your disposal for this project -- it's just a matter of creating a subfolder, eg www.terre-une.com/contest/

As fsir said, the hard part is to set up the website...

I think its a great idea and i second @fsir and @Phil suggestions on how to host the website. you can host it yourself or use an existing platform.

hosting on a private and fast server will cost you 10$ a month + 15$ a year for domain name registration .
the programing of the website is fairly easy, and i could do it if you like.

the problem is security and fraud...
Money invites corruption and fraud, and due to the open and public nature of the Internet it is almost impossible to prevent it.

pot start with 1000$ but what if it grows to 50000$ ? no matter how much i secure the server there is still the possibility of voter fraud, and i don't want to have this responsibility. maybe some other programmer here is willing to accept this burden.

you also can't trust me, Phil(no offense intended), fsir(no offense intended) , or the reddit programmers(offense intended ) .

how would you explain to the people who donated money that someone scammed you voting system?

another question - are you sure you are attracting the right people by having a cash prize?

if there is no money involved than i will be happy to assist you with everything you need.

When it comes to hosting and security I'm pretty much clueless, so whatever you guys think is most likely to run smooth I'm in!
I think this would be a great project for Terre Une, it could be a good way to start building the community! Could the non-profit association accept donations and hold the prize?
