Not for salt water, you can get by with less than 600 psi, 200 ppm is OK to drink but most plants need lower ppm.
Then there's graphene, coming to your Sears outlet soon.

Fortunately the nearest salt water is over 300 miles from where I live, so this is not an issue. The removal of all suspended solids (over 2 micron) is why I prefilter and then removal of chlorine is why I use the charcoal filter before the RO. I have both a deep well here (potable right out of the ground, as tested annually) and city water which I use for just about everything except drinking and cooking which is RO. If I ever need to go off city water, the well is there, but then the pumps have to be maintained and electricity supplied to it unless I want an 80' wishing well! The expense and maintenance of Graphene does not seem to have advantages over RO being used in my simple application.

The Graphene replacement is RO, it replaces the polymer (plastic) membrane and it requires 10% of the psi for same results
    da a plastic membrane.
[QUOTE.]We are looking to use a steam powered electrical generator to take us off the grid and off fossil fuels. Did you know that about 3lbs of dead wood from forest floors has the same BTU as 1lb of gasoline? Steam power is a lot more efficient than combustion engines! We can produce a bugout generator on a small car trailer keeping the total weight under 1,000 lbs. Add an electric chainsaw, plug in your electric vehicle to the trailer and 320 lbs of wood (about 8 cu/ft or 8 small trunks) gets you the same distance as a tank of gasoline. And when you arrive at your destination you have your heat and power with you, add a reverse osmosis unit for water and you are off the grid and on green renewable energy. (Our heater also takes carbon and ash out of the smoke which exits the generator very cool.)[Inflammatory word removed. Please be civil and respectful]

We have room to expand for more office, factory or housing space. If your idea does not add debt to this project, lets hear[Inflammatory word removed. Please be civil and respectful][/QUOTE]
What if this mobile system has no abundance of fresh water like an island in an ocean. The Sears RO has limited application, Saltwater RO is high maintenance. Distilled with Slingshot is the process I recommend. Burns any fuels and the Sterling engine model also generates electricity

    guess i need to chill

Perforene is said to be 1,000 times stronger than steel and 500 times thinner than the best existing reverse osmosis filter on the market today.

Lockheed’s John Stetson says both the energy and pressure required for desalination using Perforene will be 100 times less. That’s certainly a game changer!

Less energy is needed because the sheet is dotted with holes that are one nanometer or less.

And, since the sheet is so thin, the water just pops through, leaving the salt and other impurities behind, which are trapped by the holes that dot the sheet, between the carbon atoms.

What if? That is a great question for you to answer for whatever you are doing. Quotes from the bible are off topic for a subject labeled "Transition". You should place them in an appropriate area.

what area is it that you consider appropriate?
And, ....... forget about it... this is not worth a reply.

If this helps you, the top of the forum looks like this
    Forum: The Transition
This category is for posts and discussions about different approaches/ideas for a world transition to a new social system. This complex topic might include ideas regarding system's theory, global unification and other values approaches that can assist transition.

Bible quotes are not germane and do not mention topics germane to this forum. Please adhere to posting etiquette.
The prototype heater in my profile burns biomass (wood, forest floor debris) or gas such as methane or propane underwater. The black slime coming off it is the carbon removed from whatever it burns. If you notice the bright white smoke wafting slowly around, that is because it exits clean and cool and without heat, ash or sparks. A lot of changes are planned for the net generation of heater, but that is probably $50k away from happening.
    Cheers,
    Alan Kindree
