What stood out for me was that coastal Virginia is in fact sinking, and sea levels 'are' raising, yet coastal development continues mostly unabated while LAND speculators get rich. Virginia is not alone by any means. Humans….go figure .

What's the dumbest animal on planet Earth? I think everyone here knows my answer….

The reason I used that metaphor is because the same mechanics are at work here. As global temperatures rise, ice melts; ice melts, sea levels rise. The evidence continues to mount that oceanic temperatures are rising, and we're discovering more pressing and urgent displays of ice melt, the then logical conclusion is that sea levels will rise. Would you need to observe the ice cube on my table melt in order to believe that it will form water?

Another human related issue to this discussion, perhaps. Did anyone else catch the last episode of VICE on HBO? 100 million sharks killed by people each year, mainly for their fins, WTF?

The positive feedback loop in temperature rise is a major issue too with temperatures rising the sea's ability to hold dissolved CO2 decreases causing further rise and so on. This along with the even worse problem of thawing permafrost regions which contain A LOT of methane a far more potent greenhouse gas that will cause a massive spike in temp. For these sort of effects to begin takes a very minimal rise in temp perhaps only a degree or two. Check out the Guardian's keep it in the ground campaign. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M9MayBUgSHI

Oh, I can not watch this video Because its broken. I always been fascinated about the sea. Because I participated as volunteers who look after the environment, one of which is the waste water treatment.
