So, flu viruses should have equal rights. :-)

Right now, they have more 'rights' than you or I....

We may have come up with this word to describe certain unexpected outcomes in our attempt at trying to understand them. But what the outcomes are is what I think people are referring to as the Luck part. The causal events and all the unforeseen stuff sounds more like what you're talking about which I agree doesn't really "exist" yet because it's unknowable. So what I'm really talking about is the outcomes of Luck because that's how we've chosen to see it but the previous events that have accumulated to lead to these outcomes are more difficult to comprehend. And since ethics are part of this whole process, people will find it hard not to describe these things with words like Luck.

So if Life isn't fair and you survive it. What word can we use to describe that?

We can and do use any word (s) we choose....its how many of us keep sane in an insane world.....BUT....Even if 'life isn't fair' (It ain't supposed to be fair, who ever said so was lying) ....surviving life is just that....Surviving...nothing more....and WHY would or WHY should it be any more than that, why do WE expect it be more?.....that is a question I've been asking myself for nearly 50 years now....OMG!

Ideally, besides simply surviving, some 'LIVING' is/was done too.....

That's where the Ethics part comes in that I mentioned. For example, if a small child gets hit by a car and dies, then how do we go about explaining something like that? Situations where we know it's just not fair that it happened but we are trying to make some sense of it. And since these things cause so much suffering & pain in peoples lives, they need some type of explanation for this to bring them some closure. I don't think people can accept that things are the way they are and that's all there is to it. They want some type of answer, some way at understanding things. So to me, Ethics are the driving force here because we are talking about Human Lives & Life in general. That's what compels us to put things in to perspective with words like Luck.

Why must there be an explanation for the events we have convinced ourselves are bad or sad, even those deemed literally so?

What if there is no explanation? Would that also be bad?

....so, we want to speak of Ethics, heh? ....it seems blatantly obvious that we may be experiencing an era with the least amount of ethical motivation behind our selected leaders or their followers....with very few exceptions...

....This is actually something the Mayan's told us to expect soon after or maybe during the next evolution, according to their LONG COUNT CALENDAR....We will hopefully, and finally enter the realm of ETHICS..... ....but it may be a while yet...

IMHO; We should not get hung up on whether 'fairness' or 'luck' is part of the equation......

That's going to be a Monumental task to try and overcome.

Our emotions & feelings are pretty much still in control of most people out there. I think I do a decent job of controlling mine for the most part but when it comes to dealing with these type of situations, I can't help but bring my Human emotions into it sometimes.

So true....it remains a part of our collective makeup to believe in fantasy and the illusion of power....or is it the power of illusion?
